Welcome!

I’m Diana, the creator of Dine Sustainably! I’ve always enjoyed cooking and creating recipes, but the idea for Dine Sustainably was born out of my desire to inspire others to eat a more sustainable diet. As Anne-Marie Bonneau said, “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero-waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly”.

Even without going vegan, there are massive environmental benefits to reducing meat consumption, eliminating (or drastically reducing) red meat, altering grocery shopping habits, etc. The recipes on this blog are primarily vegetarian/vegan, pescatarian, and pollotarian (chicken, turkey). In general, I prefer simple recipes with minimal ingredients, so I hope many of these recipes will be straightforward – even for a novice in the kitchen.

A little more about me – I currently live in San Francisco, CA with my husband, Bharath, and our dog, Waffle. I work full-time in data science at a large tech company. Outside of work I enjoy cooking, traveling, strolling farmers markets, snowboarding, and exploring the outdoors. I have lived in San Francisco since 2013, but as a child I moved every few years. I spent most of my childhood in Texas and Connecticut where I picked up inspiration from both Southwest and Italian cuisines. I also draw inspiration from a wide variety of Asian cuisines that I was exposed to during my travels. Most recently, I have been learning South Indian recipes from my mother-in-law.

Hope you enjoy! I look forward to hearing your feedback in the comments!
