Toasted Besan Chutney (Chickpea, Senaga Pindi Pachadi)

This is our favorite chutney to pair with rava dosa – a thin, crispy dosa that resembles lace!

Serves approx. 4

Ingredients

Chutney

  • ½ cup toasted basen (chickpea flour)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp tamarind
  • ¼ tsp turmeric (try with ⅛ tsp turmeric next time)*
  • ¼ tsp jaggery (raw sugar cane) (could substitute with brown sugar if you don’t have)
  • ½ tsp salt plus more to taste if needed

Tadka

  • 1 tsp urad, split and without skin
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp coriander seeds

Directions

  1. Add the basen, water, tamarind, turmeric, jaggery, and salt to the blender and blend.
